V parku je nalezeno tělo mrtvé ženy. Jde o důstojnici pracující jako styčný důstojník mezi Pentagonem a kongresem. Na Gibse se obrátí starý přítel senátor Kiley a svěří se mu, že měl s dívkou poměr. Žádá ho, aby to do hlasování o důležitém zákonu udržel v tajnosti před novináři. Vzápětí má ředitel Vance anonymní telefonát. Dostává tip na úkryt vražedné zbraně. Ta ovšem patří senátoru Kileymu. Vše nasvědčuje tomu, že se někdo snaží vraždu na senátora hodit. Když je ale nalezen jeho asistent Cole mrtvý ve svém bytě s dopisem na rozloučenou, ve kterém se ke všemu přiznává, probudí se v Gibsovi jeho známý instinkt. Je mu jasné, že všechno je úplně jinak.(TV Nova)
