FBI dopraví Abby do nemocnice, kde probíhá tajný, vládou financovaný průzkum záhadného syndromu. Trpí jím vojáci, kteří se vrátili z mise v Afganistanu. Gibbs a jeho tým zatím vyšetřují smrt mladého vojáka. Abby se dozvídá, že doktor Heller, pověřený vedením výzkumu, už v programu není. Gibbsův tým přichází na to, že mrtvý voják byl člověk najatý na Hellerovu vraždu. Začnou po něm pátrat. Mezitím Abby izoluje potřebnou látku na lék, ale Heller Gibbsovi prozrazuje, že program nebyl zaměřený na hledání léku, ale naopak na výzkum biologické zbraně, kterou chtěl někdo z nemocnice prodat na černém trhu.(TV Nova)
